I, too, joined Yoga Well Being due to a Groupon. I am so very glad I did. Sipra really pays attention to her students' needs and I know for the past several months she has beein invcorporating poses and movements designed to alleviate some chronic pain I have in my sacro-iliac joint. (Yes, there really is a sacro-iliac and it really can hurt!) To Sipra's credit she did not give up and today I can say I am not only pain free, but for the first time in a very long time I feel like that jolint is functioning properly. Thank you Sipra. Thank you also for the integrated, moind-body-spirit approach. It really makes a difference to my overall well being. I am hooked!
I began Sipra's wonderful classes about two months ago. Stress was taking a physical, as well as mental toll. How Sipra and her class have helped me I will be forever thankful. Headaches, stiff muscles, sinus issues...all have been dramatically reduced. I am sleeping better at night and feel more energized during the day. Oh, I had a painful pinched sciatic nerve. Within two weeks of stretches and positions Sipra recommended, I am pain-free. No medication, no medical treatment...amazing.
All this, and Sipra's joyful, gentle, genuine, nurturing and caring spirit shining through. Everyone is made to feel welcome.
I have been coming to Sipra's classes for a month now. I have attended 8 classes total and those are the ONLY yoga classes I have ever attended in my life! I have to thank my sister Betsy for introducing me to Sipra because in just a few short weeks she has really changed my life! I suffer from Fibromyalgia and severe knee pain. Both of these cause constant discomfort in my daily life that I have learned to "get used to". At the beginning of every class Sipra asks everyone to let her know what they would like to work on that day. Yesterday's class was not only the first class I attended where I had no complaints about pain, it was the first time in many many years that I did not have any pain! I was diagnosed with the Fibromyalgia when I was only 15 years old (I am now almost 29) and I had reconstructive surgery on my knee later that same year. So for at least 14 years I have suffered from daily pain and now after only 4 weeks I am happy to say that I have had at least 2 pain free days in a row! I am also sleeping much better. Since I have started attending the yoga classes I have now had 2 full nights of sleep where I did not wake up even once. I can't EVER remember that happening (and I can remember dreams back to when I was 4 years old!). Sipra is simply amazing! I strongly believe that no matter what problems you are having in life, whether it is a physical disability, neck and back pain from work, stress, etc. attending Sipra's classes will make each day better for you! I not only physcially feel better, I feel better emotionally as well. Each day gets better and better!
A couple of years after menopause hit, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, which was particularly bad in my shoulders and elbows. By the holidays last year, I couldn't lift more than five pounds with my right arm and my left arm was beginning to weaken. I was certain this was a permanent condition or something I would have to "manage" for the rest of my life. Being an active person, I was devastated. I came to Sipra's class in February hoping to restore some mobility and to help me manage the pain. I've been attending her classes for about six weeks and can say with confidence that I am COMPLETELY pain free and back to normal. I'm amazed at the change, and while I'm not a flexible person by nature, the classes have transformed my condition. I look forward to an active summer of hiking and cycling--and even golf!
I owe coming to Sipra`s Classes to My best friend Masa, we got the groupon deal in January, 2012 . I have never done Yoga before and I was worried about whether I will be able to do it.
During each class, Sipra invests the time to hear from her students about who they are, what yoga has helped them with and what would they like to work on that day. This sharing of information creates a comfortable personable atmosphere which helped me understand some of the benefits I could gain from being in her classes.
Sipra tailors her classes to the needs of her students. She is attentive, very charismatic and empowering with her positive energy. She helped me during those past few weeks understand the power of balance. Before I started her classes, I suffered from tension headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome and back pain that I get on daily basis due to stress. After the first week of going to her classes all of these problems have disappeared. Sipra has vast knowledge of the human body, but more importantly, she believes in the power that we all have within us. She made me see and believe in mine. I feel high and ALIVE after each class.
I have been doing the classes for the past 8 weeks now, I am a physician and work really long hours, but I do my best to come to class at least three times/week.
It is a body and mind enriching experience, THANK YOU SIpra.
About 10 weeks ago, I remember having a conversation with my massage therapist about feeling like I "needed" to take yoga. I was 25 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy and my muscles were tight and achy. I've always been pretty active but was concerned what would happen if I continued on the same path for the duration of my pregnancy...I took the first class and almost slept entirely through the night, something I hadn't done in at least 2 months. As I have taken more and more classes from her...I feel like a "new person", mentally and physically. My stress and anxiety level has gone down considerably. I had no idea I was walking around in such a "fight or flight" state until I no longer remained there. Sipra's classes are so much more than any other yoga I have ever experienced. Now, I'm 35 weeks along in my pregnancy and moving around more comfortably than I was at 25 weeks. I feel fantastic and I know that has a lot to do with the classes I have been taking from Sipra, as nothing else has changed. I am so thankful for the well being she has shared with me, both mentally and physically.
I took the full 10 week meditation course with Sipra and learned a lot! Now I am practicing a short meditation every day, and have often noticed that even though I don’t spend a lot of time doing it, how it has helped me in my daily life. It helps me stay calm in stressful situations. I realize I need to practice regularly over a longer period of time to see more powerful benefits.
I have been taking yoga from Sipra, about three times a week, for about one year. In that time, the range of motion in my once nearly "frozen shoulder" has been completely restored. And while I still have significant arthritis and a collapsing disk in my neck, which will require surgery in September, my neurosurgeon states that the only thing between me and a great deal more pain than I am experiencing, is my yoga practice. Perhaps even more significant, are the psychological shifts I am noticing. First of all, like so many of us, I am a "doer"; so anything that keeps me present and in my body for an hour...is to my highest good. What I am experiencing is that there seems to be, in me, a growing space...if you will...between any given event and my reaction to it. In other words...more time to respond rather than to react. I am finding an ever growing space of peace within me.
I started attending Sipra's Saturday morning yoga classes at Urban Active more than a year ago. I'd never really enjoyed yoga in the past but I found her style to be completely different. Rather than a class where everyone is focusing on the teacher and other participants, her classes encourage you to focus inward and it's opened up a whole new world to me. I really respond to Sipra's voice and leadership style, because it makes me feel challenged yet not inadequate in any way. She really emphasizes all aspects of well-being and the connection between mind and body, in a way that has really opened my eyes! I took Sipra's 10-week meditation course, which I can highly recommend, and have been taking classes regularly at her studio since it opened in the summer. Her classes have helped me deal with depression and anxiety, as well as with the physical stresses that come with my job as a baker in a high-volume kitchen. If you've tried yoga in the past and not liked it, I really suggest giving Sipra's classes a try!
It's Betsy again, but I wanted to leave a comment AFTER I had my baby! :) I went to Sipra's classes until the day before I gave birth to my son. I had the most amazing, "easy" (if birth is ever such), totally unmedicated birth. It was better than I ever could have imagined. I used my "yoga breath" during contractions to help keep me calm and focused. Three weeks later, I was back at the studio, practicing yoga (modifed and gentle, of course). Now, I am not even 5 months post partum and am in better shape (a little physically but more so mentally/emotionally) than I was before I got pregnant. This time the "adjustment" period to having another baby was 1000 times easier than with my first. I think my yoga practice has a lot to do with that. It helps keep me calm, centered and grounded. I am so thankful for both Sipra and the warm, caring community of people I have met at Yoga Well Being!
I have just moved to the Columbus area and one of my first objectives was to find a yoga studio to become involved with. I have been practicing yoga for about 10 years and deeply appreciate the style of classes offered at Yoga Well Being (YWB). They are challenging without being difficult and a chance for full body exploration and appreciation. I am excited to futher explore the ongoing benefits from classes that focus on nuturing the body and the mind. I have only attended three so far but will be there for many more- Thank you Sipra and YWB for such a warm welcome to Columbus!
I practiced a basic yoga class at my gym for about a year, after leaving that gym I was searching for a studio and truly believe I was lead to Yoga-Well-Being since the studio is literally blocks from where I live. Yoga has changed my life and has taught me so much about looking inward, being focused, creating peace and balance in myself. I feel more grounded than I ever have and I attribute that to the practice of yoga. I wish I had started sooner because I’m not as limber and flexible as I once was, but it’s still a very good thing. I’ve had lower back issues since I was 8 years old and medication wasn't working any longer. The turning point was when I woke up one morning and couldn’t move my legs. With this wonderful yoga practice I now live 98% pain free! Sipra is an amazing instructor and creates an amazing experience sharing her knowledge of the physical and spiritual being throughout your session. I encourage and promote Sipra's practice, and the studio, to all of you whether you're looking for an extreme workout or the need to find inner peace and balance. Create light, receive light. Shanti.
I am so thankful for Sipra's yoga classes in my life. Since becoming a student, I have been able to improve my running and am now planning to run my first half marathon in May- something I never thought possible before yoga! I have also noticed a difference in my general outlook on life. I am so much more patient and understanding of the world around me. Yoga has given me the tools to live my life as it is meant to be lived. Sometimes, I even feel drunk when I leave! I thnk everyone should try it at least once! Especially with this awesome deal- 3 classes for only fifteen dollars! Come check it out!!!
I began taking yoga in January of 2011. I had injured my back the summer of that year and had been searching for something, ANYTHING that would help me see improvement. It frightened me-I had never been hurt like that before. The first yoga class I ever took was with Sipra (thank goodness!). I felt all the "first class" feelings-nervous, uncomfortable, slef-conscious. But, I also felt excited. Here was someone who was showing me something totally new, and explaining why we were doing it. I really love that about Sipra. My back is so much better. In recent years I have been plagued by pretty severe vertigo. Yoga (and Sipra) have eased that as well. I am convinced that this practice can certainly "cure what ails ya". or at least provide relief and a safe haven for the hours you can participate. I am adding more sessions per week as I can, and feel terrific.
I had the opportunity to study yoga for Sipra during a six week period last April. This period still influences my life, as I now practice yoga at a regular basis back at home. Sipra inspired me by the way she personalized every session, and by her rich knowledge: you can be in any shape before, it will feel better after the class. It is a positive adventure to take part in her classes, and I recommend every one interested in yoga and meditation to visit Yoga Well Being.

Headache/Migraine Relief
Since practicing yoga with Sipra for roughly 1 year, I have had a significant decrease in the frequency and severity of my headaches, especially migraines. I have been suffering with headaches since my teens and now in my 30's after all kinds of treatments and medicines, i have found that YOGA IS THE ANSWER! With stretching and breathing and meditation i have been able to control the level of stress and tension, also alleviating many tension headaches and neck pain. I have also lost about 5 pounds and see new muscle definition everywhere, even in the stomach, the hardest place to loose fat! Thank you Sipra for heling me to get my life back free from headache pain!!
